Volunteers Distribute Foster and Adoptive Home Recruitment Flyers on Service Nation Day

Denver, Colo.- The Denver Department of Human Services (DDHS) invites media to join volunteers and many employees in foster and adoptive home recruitment on Friday, Sept. 26 in honor of Service Nation Day. Volunteers will be out in full force canvassing Denver neighborhoods, distributing foster care and adoption recruitment flyers door-to-door.

WHAT: Service Nation Day - Volunteers distribute 10,600 flyers door-to-door in hopes to recruit foster and adoptive homes

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 26, 9:30 a.m. to noon

If you are interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent, please call 720.810.5139 or visit www.denvergov.org/fostercare.

In 2007, there were 1,480 children placed in foster care in Denver County. DDHS' goal is to certify over 200 new families for foster care over the next 12 months. Currently, there are 75 children in Denver County seeking an adoptive home.
