Arapahoe County honors citizens who serve on boards and committees

The Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners recognized 144 citizens who have served on the County's various advisory boards and committees this year at a ceremony Oct. 19.

This annual event thanks members of the County's 23 advisory boards and committees who volunteer their time and talents to shape our community, get involved in the decision-making process and help make Arapahoe County a great place to live, work and play. All members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to provide their insights on wide-ranging topics, from arts and 4-H youth development to the County budget and employee retirement plan.
"It's inspiring to see how much these citizens give back to Arapahoe County and their community," said Commissioner Susan Beckman who serves as chair of the Board of County Commissioners. "We could not be such a resourceful government without their dedication."
Arapahoe County seeks citizens to participate in a wide variety of boards and committees, such as the Audit Committee, Board of Adjustment, Citizen Budget Committee, Cultural Council, Liquor Authority, Fairgrounds Steering Committee, Retirement Board and Open Space and Trails Advisory Board.
Any resident interested in serving on an advisory board or committee is invited to complete an application form, available on the County's web site at www.arapahoe.co.us or by calling the Board of County Commissioners Office at 303-795-4630. Unless there is a mid-year vacancy, most terms expire the second week in February, with the majority of appointments made shortly thereafter.
