Snowplows have headed into Castle Rock neighborhoods, some of which had seen more than
8 inches of snow by about 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The snow started Tuesday night and is expected to linger through most of Thursday. Totals could hit more than 18 inches by the time the storm is over.
The Town had 20 snowplows on the streets all day Wednesday, and crews were keeping up well with the snow. However, roads may become icy by the evening commute as temperatures drop into the low 20s and freeze the slush that's on the streets. The Thursday morning commute also could pose
a challenge for drivers.
The evening session of Castle Rock Municipal Court has been canceled. Those who were due to appear should call 303-663-6133 to reschedule. Also, a Wednesday night open house regarding
on-street parking restrictions in Castlewood Ranch and Founders Village at Mesa Middle School
has been postponed, along with the Homebuilders Association Luncheon at Town Hall that had
been scheduled for Thursday.
The Castle Rock Recreation Center was expected to maintain normal hours Wednesday evening, and the Town's free bus service, commonly referred to as CATCO, to finish its normal routes. Users of the FrontRange Express commuter bus service, which runs between Colorado Springs and Denver with stops in Castle Rock, have been advised to expect delays.
Town Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel will remain on duty throughout the storm and will respond to calls as needed.
Interstate 25 was slushy, snowy and wet in the Castle Rock area Wednesday afternoon. Area residents are encouraged to stay home, if possible, and to use extreme caution if driving is a must.
The Town plans to begin providing updates on storm-related operations again Thursday morning. The late opening or closure of any Town offices will be posed online at CRgov.com, facebook.com/CRgov and on the Town's Twitter feed @CRgov.
