November 2, 2009, Denver, CO- Wheat Ridge Councilmember Karen Berry was recently selected by CML Board President Michael Penny to chair the Colorado Municipal League's Policy Committee.
CML's Policy Committee is a standing committee that develops the League's legislative program. Membership includes each member municipality, section representatives, and district presidents.
Berry was elected to the Wheat Ridge City Council in November 2003. She is a program manager for the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, and works closely with cities and counties across the state on a variety of land use and natural resource issues. She is a certified planner, a professional geologist, and a water quality expert.
Berry also serves on the Boards of the Denver Regional Council of Governments, the Jefferson Conservation District, and the Front Range Fuels Treatment Partnership. Additionally, she is Chairperson of the WR2020 Planning Committee, President of the Coalition of the Upper South Platte and the Upper South Platte Watershed Association, and a policy committee member of the National Association of Conservation Districts.
