The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded ArapahoeCounty with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2009 budget.The award, which was presented to the Finance Department in June, represents a significant achievement for ArapahoeCounty and reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. The County met nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, which are designed to assess how well the budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
"ArapahoeCounty has a very committed and talented team working on our budget," said Susan Beckman, who serves as chair of the Board of County Commissioners. "Our finance staff has enabled us to continue to provide a high level of services to the citizens of ArapahoeCounty with limited resources. This is a great honor for our staff and it really shows the level of dedication they have for the County."
This is the 22
nd year the County Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
"We are thrilled to receive this award once again," said Finance Director Janet Kennedy. "The Budget Division works hard all year round and I'm glad that they have been recognized for this honor."
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit, professional organization serving 14,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting in the United States. More than 900 governments have received the award, since it began in 1984.
