Volunteers of America coordinates "Rake Up Colorado!"

On Saturday, October 25th, (Make a Difference Day) over 400 volunteers arrived to rake lawns for low-income seniors in an effort coordinated by the Volunteers of America's Handyman Program. Each volunteer checked inat Volunteers of America's Denver location to pick up rakes, leaf bags and directions to 2 or 3 senior neighbor's homes.

Over 250 lawns were raked throughout Adams, Arapahoe, Denver and Jefferson counties. As the volunteers visited with their assigned seniors, they distributed safety packets containing information about fall prevention, a seniors resource guide, and a home safety assessment. Anyone interested in the services of the Handyman Program, or in becoming a volunteer handyman/woman, should call Volunteers of America at 303-297-0408.
