Land Title kicks off statewide food drive Oct. 9

DENVER, CO- Early morning risers may not recognize their local Safeway grocery store when Land Title's 11 teams of 33 employees race across First Avenue with festooned grocery carts to buy much needed items for Food Bank of the Rockies at 6:00 a.m., Fri., Oct. 9.

"As part of our commitment to our "Buy Local-Give Back" initiative, Land Title's statewide Food Drive begins Oct. 12 to Dec. 11 and Front Range office donations will benefit Food Bank of the Rockies, and our other Land Title offices and employees will support seven other Colorado food banks," said John Freyer, President, Land Title (www.ltgc.com).

In the ground level east parking lot, 3033 E. First Ave., Land Title teams will have mere minutes to decorate their shopping carts, race across 1st Ave., compete in a 5-minute shopping spree in the Cherry Creek Safeway at 1 st Ave. and Steele St. ( www.safeway.com) and buy from Food Bank of the Rockies "wish list" with $200 Safeway gift cards purchased by Land Title.

Safeway Foundation is contributing $1,000 to Food Bank of the Rockies and Safeway will provide free coffee and doughnuts for the bleary-eyed public who are invited to attend and make contributions.

"Given the current state of the economy, need is at an all-time high. Our partner agencies are experiencing an average of 30% increase in people walking through their doors for food assistance. Every $1 donated equates to 4 meals or over 5 pounds of food, so a little bit goes a long way. Assistance from companies like Land Title and Safeway is vital to our mission of fighting hunger and feeding hope. Their contributions on Oct. 9 will provide over 9,000 meals to our neighbors in need," said Kevin Seggelke, President of Food Bank of the Rockies.

"Community involvement is our corporate culture. In the past 10 years, Land Title and its principals have donated time and resources to more than 1,500 charities and events. Our statewide food drive presents this side of our culture to the community as we partner with our clients to make a difference," Freyer added.

Food drop boxes are at offices statewide. Visit www.ltgc.com or call 303-331-1880.
