Susan G. Komen Founder to Visit Denver Venture School


On Monday, November 16, Denver Venture School will receive a visit from national and local leaders sent on behalf of the Office of First Lady Michelle Obama. Denver Venture School, a charter school with an entrepreneurial focus is one of only 10-12 Denver schools chosen for these visits.

Michelle Obama will be traveling to Denver on November 16 for a leadership and mentoring event at the Governor's mansion. Mrs. Obama, Colorado First Lady Jeanne Ritter, and 20-25 accomplished women of national and local prominence will then connect with students from the local community at 10-12 schools, including Denver Venture School.
Scheduled to visit Denver Venture School are U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Founder and Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, and Denver Chamber of Commerce CEO Kelly Brough.
"We are honored that Denver Venture School was selected for a visit from such prestigious guests," said Ami Desai, Head of School at Denver Venture School. "Receiving this kind of national attention in our second year of operation is really exciting for our scholars and staff."
Denver Venture School (DVS) is a public charter school that enables a diverse group of students to achieve academic, career, and social success. DVS offers a project-based, business-oriented curriculum in a small public school environ­ment. DVS students are held to the highest standards of achievement and are supported by a dedicated community of faculty and mentors. In their junior year, students will open and run their own business.
