Friendly wrestle turns violent
At 2:47 a.m. Oct. 17, police responded to the 4500 block of Adams Street on an aggravated assault report. Police spoke with a 41-year-old man who said he was playfully wrestling with a 46-year-old friend when the incident became violent. The man said his friend grabbed a pair of broken scissors and stabbed him on the left side of his neck. He was taken to Denver Health for treatment. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
Man stabs ex-girlfriend in the eye with toothpick
At 5 a.m. Oct. 18, police responded to the 3500 block of High Street on a burglary report. An investigation revealed a 39-year-old man broke into the house of his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend and assaulted her. During the struggle, he poked her in the eye with a toothpick. The woman was able to get away and call police. He was later found and arrested for suspicion of burglary.
Thief confronts two men with knife
At 12:18 p.m. Oct. 20, police responded to Smart Stone, 6714 E. 47th Ave. Drive, on a menacing report. Police spoke with a 25-year-old man who said a suspect took an iPod from his work truck. The man and an employee at the business cornered the suspect in a nearby lot, but the suspect pulled out a silver knife and threatened them. He was later found at a park and arrested for suspicion of menacing with a weapon.
Portable potty catches fire
At 1 a.m. Oct. 20, police responded to Bible Park, 6800 E. Yale Ave., on an arson report. The Denver Fire Department also responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Authorities discovered a portable potty was on fire in the baseball field. The case remains under investigation.
Truck's passenger side gets burned
At 3:03 a.m. Oct. 20, police responded to a parking garage on the 1900 block of Wazee Street on an arson report. The Denver Fire Department also responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Authorities discovered a pickup truck's passenger side was on fire. The case remains under investigation.
Suspects break in through dog door
At 5:22 p.m. Oct. 16, police responded to the 3300 block of West 31st Avenue on a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) broke into a house through a rear dog door and stole TVs, video and sports equipment and coins.
Man in SUV snatches woman's purse
At 10:11 p.m. Oct. 20, police responded to the 3000 block of West Evans Avenue on a robbery report. An investigation revealed a 60-year-old woman was approached by a man riding inside a dark SUV. The man grabbed the woman's purse and fled in the vehicle in an unknown direction.
Thieves caught on camera stealing ladder
At 11:53 a.m. Oct. 20, police responded to Ranzell Mills Inc., 2690 W. Barberry Place, on a theft report. Police spoke with a 70-year-old man who said unknown suspect(s) took a 36-inch steel ladder that was locked on the west side of his property. Video surveillance caught the suspect(s) in action and police took it for evidence.
Woman's TV, jewelry stolen
At 3:35 p.m. Oct. 16, police responded to the 3300 block of West 20th Avenue on a burglary report. Police spoke with 43-year-old woman who said unknown suspect(s) broke into her house through a rear basement window and stole TV, video equipment and jewelry.
Woman's phone pilfered
At 10:37 a.m. Oct. 20, police responded to 7-Eleven, 1595 W. 47th Ave., on a theft report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle belonging to a 24-year-old woman while she was in the store and stole her phone.
