Pants-less man caught with drugs
At midnight Oct. 26, police responded to the 1500 block of East Eighth Avenue on a vehicle parked in Cheesman Park after curfew hours. An investigation revealed a driver was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. When police contacted the driver, a 31-year-old man, they discovered he was not wearing pants or underwear. A search of his vehicle revealed a black shaving kit containing suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
"Friend" breaks into man's house
At 10:27 a.m. Oct. 27, police responded to the 3000 block of West Walsh Place on a burglary report. An investigation revealed a suspect broke a house's electric breaker box and entered the house by cutting through a window screen. The suspect removed an air gun from a back storage area and the electric meter. The owner of the home knew the suspect, and upon confronting him, the suspect replaced the electric meter to the house and left the the scene.
Sleeping man robbed at bus stop
At 10:40 p.m. Oct. 27, police responded to the 1900 block of East Colfax Avenue on a robbery report. Police spoke with a 57-year-old man who said while he was asleep on a bus stop, unknown suspects took $9 from him. When he confronted the suspects, they fled north on the 1500 block of Race Street.
Suspects vandalize empty apartment
At 1:48 p.m. Oct. 27, police responded to 5700 block of West Warren Avenue on a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspects entered a vacated apartment through an unsecured kitchen window. They vandalized the property and fled through a rear patio door.
Cell phone store broke into
At 2:46 a.m. Oct. 26, police responded to a Cricket phone store, 2790 W. Alameda Ave., on a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspects threw a rock through the front door of the business to gain entry and attempted to unsuccessfully break into the store's locked cabinets. The incident was caught on video surveillance. Police reported a similar incident happened down the street and the suspects were able to break into the business and steal items.
Jewelry pilfered from business
At 2:38 a.m. Oct. 26, police responded to Acosta Jewelers, 2516 Sheridan Blvd., on a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspects broke into the business and stole an unknown amount of jewelry from a glass display case. There was no estimated value for the items.
Thieves steal coins from washing machine
At 2:33 p.m. Oct. 26, police responded to the 800 block of South Dexter Street on a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspects entered the laundry room of an apartment complex, pried open one of the washing machines and stole the coins inside.
Woman's purse stolen from desk
At 7:15 p.m. Oct. 27, police responded to the 1600 block of St. Paul Street on a theft report. Police spoke with 35-year-old woman who said she put her purse on her desk and went to another room. When she came back, the purse was missing. Co-workers found the purse a few blocks away, but all the items inside were missing.
Car stereo almost taken
At 9:53 p.m. Oct. 26, police responded to the 1700 block of West Mississippi Avenue on a theft report. An investigation revealed unknown suspects broke the driver's side window of a vehicle and stole the faceplate of a car stereo. They also attempted to steal the entire unit, but were unsuccessful.
TV, video equipment stolen
At 12:55 a.m. Oct. 26, police responded to the 4800 block of West Sixth Avenue on a burglary report. Police spoke with a 59-year-old man who said unknown suspects broke into his house through an unlocked door and stole TV and video equipment from his living room.
