MostDenverites would agree that it is important to reduce immigration in the State. Excessive immigration, legal and illegal, lowers wages, increases government spending, degrades the environment and increases crime.
The Colorado Democratic legislators and the governor have decided to sell there services to pro illegal alien special interest. These include groups such as the Chamber of Commerce - looking to give its members cheap labor, and Latino, and labor organizations - looking to increase their membership.
They democratic party has used the committee system to create immigration legislation bone yards. Democratic leadership stocks such committees as the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee with pro illegal alien legislators such as Senators Bacon, Williams, and Boyd. This year two excellent bills that would have reduced illegal aliens in the state were killed without allowing the full Senate to vote on them.
The first bill was a popular bill that would have required employers to use E-verify to check employees for lawful presence in the United States. Senator Williams, Boyd and Bacon held the hand of the US chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business. These large contributors want cheap illegal labor in place of Americans. So E-verify bill-- off to the bone yard.
Another bill was a State wide impound ordinance. A similar initiative won by a margin of 6 percent in a Denver election. Instead of having the opportunity to get drunk drivers off the road and reduce the amount of unlicensed drivers including illegal aliens, Williams, Boyd, and Bacon sat down and cried with La Raza and other pro illegal organizations about some mythological profiling. Impound ordinance -- Off the bone yard.
The biggest problem with the illegal immigration legislation bone yards is the people of the State of Colorado get no chance to have critical immigration legislation debated by the full chamber. Why have a legislature when one of the most important problems to the Colorado economy, illegal immigration, can not be debated. If the people have no forum because there legislators are ruled by special interests then we don't need to even bother with the legislative arm of government. The Democratic Colorado legislature is becoming a Kakisocracy (government by the least qualified or most unprincipled citizens) and not a representative of the republic.
The Republicans in the legislature need to stop preening and posing and call the democrats on this destructive maneuver. If our elected representatives can not reduce immigration, legal and illegal in the state of Colorado-- Off to the bone yard.
