Nearly 5,500 registered riders enjoyed a moonlit summer night in the city streets of Denver cycling on a new closed course. The 17th annual Kaiser Permanente Moonlight Classic benefited Colorado-based Seniors, Inc.
The new 10-mile closed course, primarily in non-residential areas of downtown Denver, gave riders a new perspective on roads usually not traveled via bicycle.
This year's Moonlight Classic course started at the State Capitol and headed north through Uptown, past the Botanic Gardens through Congress Park to Cherry Creek, west past Alamo Placita, and northwest on Speer Boulevard before returning to the State Capitol.
Many dressed in costume for the occasion and arrived at the foot of the State Capitol early to enjoy the family friendly atmosphere.
