Miranda - The Real Sex & The City Friend
Contributed by: Elayne Glasser on 5/9/2008

I'm most like personality-wise, Miranda. I tend to tell it like it is. When people ask me for my opinion I really don't sugar coat things. I'm honest about how I feel about things and to the point. Sometimes maybe it comes across as a little crass, but I think I'm the friend that people go to when they don't want you to sugar coat things. I'm straight forward in my thinking and don't play games. Sometimes maybe I come across a bit jaded, but why not just be up front about how you feel and just be straight when people ask your opinion. I don't like phonies. I like 'real' people who don't put on an act. That is how Miranda is. I think she is the least self involved of all the girls. Like when she moves away from the 'cool' NYC to Brooklyn. Even though she loved all the great perks of the city. It became about not just herself anymore, but her family and what would be best for them.

I've been told by several good friends that the one thing that they can always count on with me, is that when they want my real feelings/the truthor opinion about them or on an issue I will be honest and to the point. Sometimes you need friends like that and then you have the Carries, and the Charlottes to balance you out, when you might not want things to be that 'real'. Sometimes you just want your friends to know when to tell you what you just want to hear, and you have to know 'yourself' sometimes when you need to put things in that perspective too for them also.

Its not like Miranda is totally heartless. She knows how to be a softy and a good listener and sounding board for her friends when they need her. She just hopes her friends and boyfriends will be straightforward and honest with her too, but know how to be a little delicate in the delivery oft heir honesty with her. She also shows her softy side too and surprises ustoo, as do I.We both don't totally haveall the answers. Even though we'd like people to think that.

You just have to know when to hold back a bit and bite your tounge. Too much straight honesty with anyone isn't a good thing. It's ok to know when to tell that little white lie, to spare someones feelings. I think Miranda does a pretty good job at balancing that, and I think I do too.
