Carrie and I--One and the Same
Contributed by: Leslie Ballentine on 5/25/2008

Ever since I started watching Sex and the City years ago, I noticed my similarities toCarrie'scharacter. Sure, we have some similar physical features--we're both petite with dirty blonde, naturally curly hair--but the similarities don't end there.

Beyond the physical features, we share a love for writing and shoes. Although Carrie has a newspaper column, my current job involves writing and editing educational materials. In the past, I wrote for college newspapers and magazines, but these gigs didn't pay the bills like Carrie's column does. We can't discuss Carrie without mentioning shoes--also my favorite. My closet has more space devoted to shoes than to clothes, and I probably have 100 pairs. Unfortunately, my budget can't afford Manolos, but I can admire them. Being a petite woman like Carrie, we wear tall stilettos and wedges to be at eye level with everyone else. Plus, tall shoes make your legs look amazing!
Finally, Carrie and I have a unique sense of style that sets us apart. Funky jewelry, unique details and a flair for the extraordinary are elements of my style. We definitely are trend setters, and not followers. It's fun to go out on a limb, and try something new--set a new trend. In fact, I even have a "Leslie" name necklace--just like Carrie's--from 15 years ago.

I'm sure there are lots of folks that find similarities between characters in Sex in the City because the characters are each unique. My physical features, love for shoes and writing and unique sense of style demonstrate that Carrie and I are amazingly similar.
