Morey Middle School welcomes local business people

Morey Middle School, a Denver Public School, is right smack dab in the heart of Capitol Hill among businesses, museums, theatres, government and civic organizations. To get these different businesses interested in us, Morey created the Morey Urban Partnership, or UP for short.

Recently, members from these businesses met in the library at Morey to learn more about the school and Morey UP. Businesses represented include Denver Water, Earth Force, Life on Capitol Hill, Namaste Solar, The Colorado History Museum and The Denver Business Journal.

During the meeting, Morey Principal Dori Claunch and Morey Community Liaison Karen Duell talked about how local businesses can help the students at Morey by partnering with our school. Businesses can help by having employees tutor our students, contributing money to projects, or enriching Morey's curriculum with what they know and do best.

One example is Denver Water is offering a 6th grade program in science about water and how to keep it clean. To thank our partners, Morey is putting a link on the Morey website to the Morey UP partner's website. Next, Karen Duell gave a tour of Morey to the business representatives to great acclaim. We hope they will help us learn more while at Morey.

If you are a business that would like to join the Morey UP or learn about ways you can help our students, please contact Karen Duell at karen_duell@dpsk12.org. Visit our website too at www.Morey.dpsk12.org. Thank you.
