My new old house
Contributed by: Denise Ross on 6/29/2006

I was fortunate enough to qualify for the DURA rehabilitation loan program mentioned in the News Shorts section of the YourHub.com print edition by Richard Abels.

I can't say enough good things about it. I've been in my 1880s home for 28 years and have been catch-as-catch-can about updates. For the first time, all my electrical, plumbing and heating are all current and up to code.

The people at DURA are professional but also so freindly and helpful through the whole process. Every contractor and particularly the general were experts in their fields and responsive to my needs. So much of what is happening in Denver real estate benefits the developers and pushes out old time residents. This is such a marvelous program for just regular folks who don't have the resources to get this quality of work done any other way.

I would encourage anyone to do this. It benefits the homewoner as well as their neighbors. Get the word out!
