DENVER - After a very successful showing at the GAA North American County Board (NACB) National Championship, the Denver Gaels are gearing up for another session of hurling, Gaelic football and camogie.
Coming off of thee separate NACB titles in Chicago over Labor Day weekend, the Gaels will be hosting new player clinics prior to the start of the fall leagues.
New player clinics will be held two
Sundays, Sept. 16 and Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. at Dick's Sporting GoodPark.
"We obtained some notable milestones in Chicago. Now it's time to take the next step and start recruiting for next year," said John Elliott, president of the club, which began in 1996. "Walking away with two youth titles and the hurling title has whet our appetite to become even more competitive next year."
No experience is necessary to attend the clinic.
All that's required to play these sports is the willingness to learn to adapt some current sports skills and a desire to join a club dedicated to the success of its members.
Although, hurling is considered one of the oldest fields sports in
Europe, it is still very new to many in America.
Anyone interested in attending should either show up at the designated times or contact the Gaels at denvergaels@yahoo.com or visit the Web site at
www.denvergaels.com
