CBS4 Anchors lined up Tuesday, along with Denver Broncos fans at Invesco Field at Mile High for the 10th annual Denver Broncos Drive for Life the state's largest single-day blood drive.
Donors, including CBS4 Anchors Brooke Wagner, Tom Mustin, Jim Benemann and Molly Hughes, along with meteorologist Stacey Donaldson and Traffic Reporter Lynn Carey rolled up their sleeves and gave blood. Bonfils Blood Center hoped the number of blood donors at this year's event would break last year's record of 2900.
"This is a great way to give back to the community," CBS4 Anchor Brooke Wagner said. "When I gave birth to my youngest child, I lost half of my blood supply and needed a blood transfusion. My goal is to donate at least as much blood as I received."
According to Bonfils, one blood donation can save the lives of up to three patients.
Broncos players, alumni and cheerleaders showed their support by signing autographs for blood donors throughout the day. Rod Smith, Broncos wide receiver, has been the Broncos spokesperson for the blood drive for 10 years. His daughter receives frequent blood transfusions to treat her sickle cell disease.
Bonfils Blood Center still needs blood donors throughout the year. They need 4,350 people to donate blood each week to meet the needs of Colorado's patients and to maintain a blood supply for any unforeseen events. Visit Bonfils at
