The Prairie View High School cross country team will begin its second season this fall, but voluntary runs have already begun to get into shape at scenic places like Barr Lake and the South Platte River trail. Prairie View students who would like to experience this very fun sport are encouraged to join in the workouts.
"The best part about cross country," said Thunderhawks assistant coach Bill Stahl, "is that anyone can do it and realize the sport's benefits. The kids have a lot of fun, make friends, get into great shape, and feel better about themselves. Every participant thinks at first that it's impossible to run so far, but after just a few weeks they look back and realize that it wasn't as hard as they thought it would be, and it was definitely worth the effort."
As an added incentive, the runs are always followed by tasty snacks. Any Prairie View students who would like to join in the summer runs should contact Coach Phillips at 303-838-7015 or Coach Stahl at 303-477-2236.
