The Denver Outlaws hope to avenge an earlier loss against the Chicago Machine when they play at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Wednesday, July 4th. Attackman Brendan Mundorf leads the team into the game with 15 goals and 6 assists. Mundorf currently sits 10th among MLL scoring leaders.
The Machine have won only one game in team history, with that win coming against the Outlaws. Chicago beat Denver 19-17 in their game on June 2nd and that victory remains their lone win as a franchise.
Denver holds the second position in the Western Conference standings with a record of 2-3, while Chicago sits in last place at 1-4 on the year. The Outlaws are coming off a 20-14 loss against San Francisco and the Machine look to bounce back after a 21-13 beating given by the Los Angeles Riptide.
The Machine hope to repeat an impressive performance versus the Outlaws in their first match-up. Chicago comes to town with the number one overall pick in the 2007 MLL Draft, Pat Heim, who had 4 goals in his first game against the Outlaws. Kevin Leveille leads Chicago with 15 goals and 6 assists, posting the same point total as the Outlaws Brendan Mundorf, with 21 for the season.
Finishing the game strong should be key for the Outlaws as last time out, Denver gave up an 8-6 lead at halftime versus San Francisco and lost the previous game to Rochester in overtime. Fans can expect a hard-fought battle on the July 4, with a spectacular fireworks display following the game.
