The Denver Gaels, an official member of the GaelicAthletic Association, have a busy spring road ahead - primarily the commencement of the annual Denver Gaels Pub League involving competitiveinterclub play with teams from Scruffy Murphy's, Blake Street Tavern, TheCeltic Tavern and The Irish Rover. The Pub League is held every Sunday at Dick'sSporting Good Park - home of the Colorado Rapids!
As the Gaels welcome and teach numerous newbies, theyare also preparing for heavy competition to start the athletic season. TheGaels will also be sending teams in Gaelic football and hurling to the RioGrande Valley Celtic Festival in Albuquerque, NM, the weekend of May 16-18. Itpromises to be a lively road trip and weekend of fine competition and goodcraic with fellow members of the Southwestern Division - the Phoenix Gaels. Arivalry born in last year's North American County Board Championships, in whichPhoenix defeated Denver by a mere point, will be fostered and magnified.
Further, the Gaels are preparing for wide exposure to50,000+ festival attendees at the Colorado Irish Festival scheduled for the weekendof July 11-13 at Clement Park in Littleton. Other GAA clubs from Austin, SanDiego and Indianapolis will be on-hand for high-level competition with the local Denver squad in hurling and Gaelic football.
