Two local boxers score big


The Denver Police Brotherhood Youth Boxing Team sent 2 boxers to the National PAL Boxing Tournament, held in San Antonio, Texas, Oct. 18-24.

With over 600 boxers competeing in the week long tournament with hopes for a National PAL Title only 59 boxers accomplished that feat and both of our boxers brought home medals!

Andrew Strode age 12, Won the 70lb. NATIONAL PAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT, by defeating Timothy Longora, of Texas in the Championship Bout 6-3.

Gilardo Garcia age 19, Light Heavy Weight, won 2 bouts to get to theSemi-Finals. Gilreceived the Bronze Medal, losing in the Semi-Finals to Siju Shabazz of New Mexico.

Team Director C.C. Edwards and Head Coach Stephen Blea ( Coach of 18 National Champions now) and Coaches Andre Stode (Police Officer with DPA), Raymond Martinez, and all the Denver Police Brotherhood Board Members & Team Members want to let these two young men know that we are Very Proud of their outstanding accomplishment!!
