What is Spring?

When the word spring comes to mind, everyone thinks of different things. Some think of outdoor soccer, baseball, tennis, lacrosse, or even track. Others may even think of rain or flowers, or even lemonade. But to the racing community, the only thing on our minds: Let's go racin' boys!

A Quarter Midget is a small open wheel race car, for kids ages 4 and a half to 16. Depending on the class, speeds range from5mph up to 40 mph. Yes, I know what you're thinking.' That's dangerous! I don't want to read this anymore!' But no need to worry, each driver is in a fire resistant suit, gloves, and shoes. Not only that, but a neck brace, a helmet, and even arm restraints, are used to keep each and every driver safe. These drivers drive on a one twentieth of a mile oval, in places all over the US. The closest track to Denver is 30-45 minutes away at IMI motor speedway in Dacono, Colorado. In Colorado, there are also tracks in Pueblo an Ellicott. For more information visit rmqma.com, and quartermidgets.org.

I encourage you to view the websites, and even come and visit us!I can personally promise that you will be amazed, at the intense competition and sportsmanship demonstrated by these young drivers. This year, we plan on seeing some good racing, with new novice drivers, and a fast paced Junior Honda class. Luke Domenico is coming back this year, to contend with Adam Pechman, and Jake Bubak, looking to win a Lt. 160 championship and de-throne last year's champion Ryan Jones. Luke is also looking forward to some Sr. Honda competition with Nick Hankins, and Johnny Boos. With some drivers including Ryan Jones, moving to Hvy. 160, there is sure to have good competition with Cody O'connor, Johnny Boos, and Devan Burckley, to only name a few.

This year, RMQMA will be hosting a few off site races. The first of these off site races is right around the corner, Memorial Day Weekend, May 29th and 30th at Phil Long Ford in Lakewood, Colorado. The second of these off site races, is June 12th and 13th at Heritage Square in Golden, Colorado. If you can't make either of these events, be sure to visit the web sites for a full summer race schedule.

After all this information, I hope that you are willing to take a further look into quarter midget racing, and hopefully, make your spring start with "lets go..." and end with "racin' boys!"
