Aloha! Rush Wins Three State Titles
Contributed by: Dee Clark on 10/24/2007

Congratulations to our local State Cup champions U13 Nike Boys, U14 Nike Girls and the U18 Nike Girls! After having advanced five teams to the State Cup finals, these three teams were triumphant and will travel to Hawaii in June to represent Colorado in the Region IV tournament.

The first win of the day went to the U14 Nike Girls who decided to wait until overtime to record their second straight state championship with a 1-0 win over Real Colorado. The second title was secured a short time after with an injury time victory for the 13 Nike Boys over a very game Real team. It was a well fought match that was decided by one of the great goals in Colorado State Cup history. The last game of the day saw the U18 match up that so many people in the state were talking about, Rush vs. Real. The Rush 18 Girls are one of the best teams in the country and proved it for the second year in a row (not to mention, six out of the last seven years) with a convincing 3-1 victory.

The U15 Nike Girls who also advanced to the finals lost a very close and hard fought match 1-0 falling just short of their intended goal, as did the U16 Nike Girls who conceded the game winner in the fourth minute of injury time in a 2-1 loss.

Congratulations to our winners and a very special thank you to all of our community members who came out in a display of support and passion!
