Acupuncture and various chronic and pain disorders
Contributed by: Lily Jou on 6/16/2008

Whether it is Arthritis Pain, Mobility problem from Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson's, Incontinence, Constipation, Asthma, Lower Back Pain, or any type of pain that you have now, Acupuncture can help. How? You ask?

Well, there are three mechanical models to explain what acupuncture does for your body:

The Band-aid theory - where, if you have a minor cut, your immune system fires up and goes to investigate the problem area, and monitors it till all healing is done at that area. ACUPUNCTURE leaves a minor hole to be fix after the needles are removed. Thus, the immune response has to kick in to heal the body.

The Traffic Cop theory, where improvement in the flow of traffic can be made with cones, lights, signals ... till the highway is free and clear. Acupuncture needles act like those signals.

The Ballerina theory - where she has to train her body to move a certain way repeatedly till the body "remembers" how to do it automatically.

Now, with Arthritis, you have joint pain due to what we call damp-heat (if it's red and swollen joint), or damp-cold (if the cold weather affects your pain). Looking at the area locally, we would want to move traffic using heat therapy (moxibustion) - that's why using capsaicin help reduce the arthritic pain because of the heat. Using needles to guide the immune system outwards to the spot also aids in the process of removing the obstruction. Massage also helps to move blood. In addition, internal herbs aid in nourishing the immune system to clear up damp-heat or damp-cold.

After this treatment, you may pee a lot more -as the "damp" from the joint is coming out. To say it more accurately though, your bladder channel/highway is involve as the next stage up. Other stages will follow - on your way to healing.

Now, let's talk about Asthma & Constipation. You will often find these two conditions together! Like straw ... holding water. If you release the top (by opening the Lung channel), you release the bottom (the paired channel - the Large Intestine). The stuck top is the phlegm in the lungs and runny nose symptoms. Thus, LI 4 (He Gu) is often use in lung disorders, as it is the Yuan Source point of the Large Intestine channel.

Lower Back Pain or any type of Pain, see theories again as to how Acupuncture helps get the serotonine and endorphine signals to the area. In addition, the Ear Acupuncture really takes away the pain quickly when done on the correct area of the ear. The more precise we are in locating, the better the result for you!

For each of your condition, we have an interpretation of it in Chinese Medical System - to cure it, we have to get rid of the pain first, the branch, and then for the root, we have to dig - and that takes time to reverse your symptoms, as it took some time for the joint to get swollen in the first place!

This is a new and exciting concept - that we in Chinese Medicinal System (including Acupuncture and herbs) can reverse a disease through bringing it back out in stages! So, if you are planning to live a long life, come see us and we'll help you reduce the pain!

Our pricing starts at $15 for Ear treatment to stop ANY TYPE OF PAIN from head to toe!
