Robin Nolet

Bio: Welcome to my bio! You may have already gathered a thing or two about me from reading my posts, but for clarification I thought I'd fill in a couple gaps.

I came to Colorado in the 70's to attend the University of Denver and commune with John Denver's Rocky Mountain High. After college I had the choice of staying here...or returning to Illinois. That was a no-brainer! In case you're wondering...my major was Anthropology. While it's true I never did time on St. Kitts studying the monkeys, I did raise three boys, so, I like to think I've used my degree well.

I'm a mom and (gasp!) a grandma...yes, even I have a hard time believing that one, but really, it's great. I guess that qualifies me to write the Help Mom blogs which are taken from a little book I wrote for my kids when they were just starting out in the world. It's amazing how much they didn't know...and yet they still seemed to think they knew so much more than their mom. Go figure! To read those, go to my website at: http://robinnolet.wordpress.com/

I'm also a Realtor and, in time, I will be adding blogs called Real Life Real Estate to fill you in on all the inside skinny that brokers know but never tell their clients. Well, okay, so some of us do, but we're also gonna cover some of our biggest pet peaves, and frankly, I think buyers and sellers should know some of this stuff, so watch for those!

I'm a former volunteer-it was almost a full-time job! From MOP's (Mother's of Pre-Schoolers), to PTO, to Team Mom for my kid's sports, I've done my time. And hey, it was fun and worthwhile, I loved it, but I'm taking a sabbatical of sorts from my volunteer duties (which I plan to pick up again in the future-I miss it!) in order to devote more time to....(next paragraph!)

I'm also a writer. Aren't we all? Sometimes it feels like everyone is writing a book, or thinking about writing a book, or wishing they could write a book...if they only had the time. I think if you have actually sat your behind down in servitude to the written word and, despite colds, holidays, dirty laundry, and every other excuse writers are so gifted at creating, you have cranked out an honest to goodness novel...or two or three or more, you are officially allowed to call yourself a writer. Personally, however, I reserve the term "author" until (not if!) my first book is published. Still, I have a writer's bio, and since blogging is all about writing, here it is:

Awards for Full Length Unpublished (yeah, they give awards for that!) Fiction:

**Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer's Colorado Gold Contest (Mystery)

**Pikes Peak Writer's Conference Paul Gillette Memorial Writing Contest (Mystery)

Awards for Children and Young Adult Story:

**Denver Women's Press Club

Humor/Commentary Columnist (over 100 columns in all):

**Parker News Chronicle

**High Plains Rider (yes, THAT wacky rag!)

**Housewife-Writer's Forum (ok, this one goes back a ways...I was a newbie)

Volunteer Work (yeah, I still did some!):

**Many years assisting in the intake and judging of manuscripts for the Rocky Mountain Fictions Writer's Colorado Gold contest. (The biggest unpublished writer's contest west of the Mississippi-we love to point that out!)

Blogs:

**www.robinnolet.wordpress.com (check this out for more info and blogs!)

**My YourHub Blog which occassionally makes it to the pages of the Hub insert in the Rocky Mountain News (Your reading that now!)

Current Projects:

**Creating a blog presence (this is it!) and having a little fun. Compared to writing books, blogs are like brain candy-lots of fun!

**Currently going through the paces (don't ask, aren't you bored already!?) of

seeking representation for my latest effort in fiction, a mainstream novel entitled The Shell Keeper. Check out http://robinnolet.wordpress.com/ to follow my quest....there's likely to be some consumption of good wine and the occassional obligatory soul searching. And of course, I'll have to rant about celebrity authors-that's just to be expected.

Well, enough about me. Really! Check out a blog or two and please comment. Whether you agree or not with what I have to say, I love to spark the thought process. See you in print!
