Greetings. I'm the editor at YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

Lawyer to cover New Year's Eve cab rides

Want to get a free ride home after enjoying many an adult beverage New Year's Eve?

Denver attorney Michael Sawaya is a marketing pro when it comes to amateur night. He is also someone who has experienced personal tragedy.

Sawaya is offering to cover taxi rides for anyone 18 and up. I got in touch with him after hearing about the offer on Cha Cha's show on KOOL 105 on Friday. Here's what Sawaya e-mailed me:
"I want to send the message "Don't drive home drunk!" My law firm will pay for a ride home through the New Year for any one over 18. If we save one person from putting others at risk, it will be worth it! I had a sister and a brother who died in accidents. I have worked on over 10,000 injury cases. I know the pain it can cause.Thanks again! Happy New Year!

"We will pay for a ride home, up to $35, for a person over the age of eighteen. We will need the cab receipt mailed or delivered to us at 1600 Ogden St Denver, CO 80218."

Dec. 31 update:
I received this e-mail from Sherryce Emery at the Sawaya Rose & Kaplan office at 10:05 a.m. today:
"These are the rules:
1. Must be 21 or over to participate
2. From a location to home address in metro area
3. Maximum $35.00 cab fare
4. Valid December 20th thru January 1
5. Mail a copy of their ID, receipt for cab ride and return mailing
address to
Holiday Cab Rides
The Sawaya Law Firm
1600 Ogden Street
Denver, CO 80218"
