My neighbor from across the street was over here shoveling my walk and steps around 11:30. Now, at 3:00, you can't see an evidence that he was here at all. the snowfall diminishes in intensity then kicks back up, as it is now. Drifts on my back deck are wonderfully sculptural, but this heavy spring snow has stayed off the branches, for the most part, because of the wind.
This is a good thing -- I shant be trekking out in my boots and parka to shake bent limbs free of snow. Hopefully the lilacs will come through this intact, and the sand cherry, and the plums, which are already almost through blooming. I have no worries about the soon-to-bloom tulips and daffs...they'll be just fine.
Been cooking all day, and the house is filled with homey aromas.Nothing like a crockpot to assist in setting the mood during a blizzard. Snug here, with the cats lounging about and the dog emitting long suffering sighs, I am content. On deck for tonight: an Errol Morris film, his latest,
Standard Operating Procedure. I (heart) Errol Morris.
Fast, Cheap and Out of Control is one of my favorite movies evah.
The pics I took of the snowstorm are from my camera phone (the"family" camera is currently in Denmark with my p'ner) so excuse the quality. But you'll get the idea. The graininess that appears to be a pixelated shot is most likely the snow, now, again, falling sideways, blown by a wicked wind. It's 3:39 pm in downtownish Denver, March 26th, 2009. Our biggest storm of the winter? Far from over.
