Blog Entry 86 of 87 North Denver Doorbell
Greetings. I'm the former editor of YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

Where to find Palin Halloween duds in Denver

Phew. I wasn't too late!

On Tuesday evening, I secured my Halloween costume. I'm going to be Gov. Sarah Palin this year, and youbetcha a lot of other women will be too. I've heard for years that I resemble Tina Fey, but wearing my glasses and sweeping up my hair won't be enough. A business suit that Susan Dey's L.A. Law character and Hammer would have fought over would not do either, so I hit the thrift stores before all the potential Palin power suits were snatched up. Here are some things I learned while finding the perfect suit.

1. Don't get your hopes up about the Goodwill at 21 S. Broadway in Denver. I couldn't find anything but the aforementioned '80s suits and size 4 business apparel. Saying that though, the perfect outfit could be one donation away. Two-piece suits are located on the rack near the west wall.

2. Finding the selection of business apparel at The Arc at 1515 S. Broadway is like being able to see Russia from your house. You want to tell everyone! To help you, dear reader, I took pictures of the many suits I tried on but didn't purachase. I hope all of you Halloween Sarahs are able to grab one soon. You'll find these on the east side of the store, a few racks from the back.

3. The Arc also has a fine selection of gold-like jewelry in the front. Check out what's in the display case as well as on the racks just north of the checkout stands.

4. Women narrow of foot will find an abundant selection of red high heels in this Arc store as well. I was impressed with the size 10 collection of shoes too. Being neither of these, my choices were fewer, but I did make two great finds.

5. Down the road at the Army and Navy Surplus Store, 3524 S. Broadway, Englewood, you'll find plenty more mavericky accessory options.

Now I just have to remember how to apply lipstick, borrow a pair of Sarah-like frames from my optician friend and I'll be a Bristol mama.

Happy Halloween!

Are you going to post a picture for us in your costume?

Good idea, but no, Nikki. Thanks for the tip, Megan. (Yet again, I've rated my own blog on reflex.)

Will you be accessorizing with a baby too?

You can get Sarah Palin's rhinestone flag pin at www.mccainbling.com. It is a colorado company! Cool other pins there too!
