Greetings. I'm the editor at YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

A five-year hiatus ended Monday. I was able to give blood again.

Back in 2002-ish, my friend Lisa and I went to the Boulder Bonfils location to donate blood, probably my third or fourth pint. While I was nestled into my chair, my phlebotomist politely removed the needle and turned me away when my vein clotted up before I could fill the pint bag. I was disappointed.

These days, I'm healthier. I probably drank about 40 ounces of water a day in college. Now I average 100. I'm also in better shape. So when Cindy Uribe with the Denver Newspaper Agency sent out an e-mail saying our building would host a Bonfils blood drive, I decided to give the needle another try.

I'm proud to announce that I was an easy stick and gave my steadily flowing pint to Bonfils on Monday afternoon, and I can go back in two months to give more -- along with all other qualifying donors. Props to Tabitha Dial and Daniel Smith on our staff who also were able to donate.

Huh, I just read this today. It was interesting as I took photos of you and Tabitha. I'll have to donate next year, or whenever they hold the next blood drive.
