Blog Entry 81 of 82 North Denver Doorbell
Greetings. I'm the editor at YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

Moms group shares list of healthy-toy vendors
Contributed by: Fairlight Baer-Gutierrez/YH   on 4/11/2008

Om. I mean mom.

I'm one of the few childless women in my yoga class at Clare Gardens, so I listen in on my instructor Dara and classmates' Highlands Mommies talk as if they're national security briefings. It's a parallel world that exists right in my neighborhood.

Today, Dara leaked to me HM member Teresa Halverson's compiled list of Denver area stores and Web sites that carry healthy toys.

I haven't thought about the China-focused lead-paint scare since it stopped making daily headlines, but this week's recall of Hillbilly Teeth indicates the issue remains.

Here is a list of the 753 toy recallsthat the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has reported since 1974, including 25 lead-related warnings since March 2007.

And here is Teresa's roundup of safer-toy information:
Thank you all very much for your suggestions about finding healthy toys for kids. Here is a quick list of places people suggested. Most places will have toys made in China, but do testing to ensure they are safe. Just ask the staff for help and they can point you in the right direction.
