Blog Entry 2 of 18 Parenting..Parenting...Parenting!
Anyone who has been a parent knows that it brings both great rewards and challenging moments. This is my take on the life of being a being a parent, most of that time a single parent.....my struggles, my successes and everything in between.

Mommy!!! He's looking at me!

Whether you have one child or four, there are moments of struggles between powers and attention with your children. My favorite is "He's looking at me". How do you respond to that? Do you tell the offender to stop being so mean? Stop the teasing? Or do you tell the complainer to not look?

It never fails that the offender says, "I wasn't looking at him, he was looking at me" And then you are right in the middle of the battle...and you must show your alliegance to one or the other. Not today. After years of trying to come up with something to stop the eminent battle....I told the complainer to look right back....and not to blink. Because the blinker loses the game.(You remember, that old starring game that made your eyes water?I personally tried so hard to keep my eyes open even as my forehead wrinkled while I tried to pull my eyes open more) Well before I knew it they were laughing in the backseat of the car and I was at piece....at least for the next 5 minutes. LOL So did I just teach them to practice the Golden Rule, do unto others? Or did I emphasize competition? Whatever it was, today's ride was a little smoother, and parenting comes with no instructions. And if tomorrow I have to do something else to stop the "evil" eye, then I will just try again.
