Blog Entry 45 of 83 North Denver Doorbell
Greetings. I'm the editor at YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

Sex-offender-flier scammers get an editor
Contributed by: Fairlight Baer/YourHub.com   on 8/3/2007

Apparently the group behind the pay-for-info sex offender fliers showing up around the Denver metro area recently brought an editor on staff.

When YourHub.com staffer Eric J. Lubbers posted about finding a flier at his Capitol Hill apartment July 26, the paper encouraged residents, "FINED OUT WHO THEY ARE..."

But the flier I found at my North Denver home Thursday reads, "FIND OUT..."

Strangely, it's still missing a comma in "ATTENTION NEIGHBORS" and the gratuitous exclamation marks remain.

These fliers are a scam because you can acquire names and locations of convicted sexually violent offenders for free from the government.

Check out Eric's blog to find out how you can get a list from Denver or the state. If you would like a list from another Colorado police or sheriff's department, click here.
