Blog Entry 55 of 83 North Denver Doorbell
Greetings. I'm the editor at YourHub.com and I use this blog to share what's going on in my 'hood and beyond. If you're curious, the North Denver Doorbell is the regular honking we hear in our neighborhood as motorists approach alley intersections or when they don't feel like getting out of their cars to politely knock or ring a doorbell.

Steve Miller Band foresaw Rox trip to World Series
Contributed by: Fairlight Baer-Gutierrez/YH   on 10/18/2007

Move over, Nostradamus. Rock powerhouse Steve Miller Band is the newly recognized soothsayer.

KOOL 105 producer Ben LuMaye astutely paired an ESPN sportscaster's commentary on the probability-defying Rockies with Rock'n Me references to Phoenix, Arizona, and Philadelphia.

YOU HAVE TO LISTEN. (I never cap and bold.)

The Rockies beat Philadelphia in the playoffs. Get it? The Rockies swept the Diamondbacks, who are based in Phoenix, Ariz., to get to the World Series. Get it? Rock'n. Rockies. Get it?

This is Ben's latest creation playing on Denver's FM dial.

After the Rockies swept Arizona on Monday night, KOOL started playing another clever creation pairing sound from Colorado's win with bits of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's Ain't No Mountain High Enough.

That one was clever. The Rock'n Me bit is simply eerie.

Nostradumus may have predicted plagues, earthquakes and wars, but who predicted the Rockies' trip to the World Series? Not TBS sportscasters and not Denverites in July. The Steve Miller Band did.

My thanks to KOOL DJ Dan Mitchell for sending me the sound file.

I love Steve Miller, but that's not my favorite song. I prefer Abracadabra, although it wouldn't work with our stunning successes on the field. I know a few Diamondbacks who might think Abracadabra might be more fitting... but they're just jealous.

Pretty cool! I had never put the two together. I'm glad KOOL was " on the ball"
