Ovarian Cancer Awareness March on September 5th
Contributed by: Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (COCA) on 7/14/2008

What:
Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (COCA) is organizing an Ovarian Cancer Awareness March on Friday, September 5th at Civic Center Park, ending at the Capitol's west steps, where Channel 7 News Anchor Bertha Lynn will emcee the program.

The march is Colorado's contribution to "Teal Day," a nationwide effort to make sure every person can be advocates for themselves, their mothers, their aunts, their daughters and their friends if faced with ovarian cancer--and that there are adequate funds for research for this deadly and dangerous disease.
Ovarian cancer is often deadly--only 45% of women with ovarian cancer live for five years or more. Did you know that annual pap exams do NOT screen for this cancer? And 81% of women aren't diagnosed until they have a very late stage of the disease.
Early detection is the key to survival. COCA wants women and their families to know the four classic symptoms of ovarian cancer to increase early diagnosis: Bloating, abdominal pain, eating difficulty and urge to urinate frequently.

Come join other women and men at the COCA march to advocate for ovarian cancer research and education!
Where: West end of Civic Center Park, marching to the Capitol west steps
When: 11:30 AM
Event Dates: This event takes place on 9/5/2008.
