When it was bean fields and apple orchards
Contributed by: William Bond on 1/4/2008

Editor's note: Visit our Faces of Lakewood and Edgewater page, where YourHub.com staff and readers can introduce you to more people -- and a dog -- who make this part of the metro area what it is.

Irv August, retired mechanical engineer and avid rail fan and railroad photographer, stands in the front of a south facing window filled with railroad memorabilia in his home in Lakewood. Irv, who is 93 and a widower, and his wife, Elna moved to the Applewood area of Lakewood in 1955 when Irv says "it was nothing but bean fields, apple orchards and grazing land."

This is a great tidbit about Irv. Also, love the photo with the glass vases in the background. Thanks for posting, Bill!
