Day of the Dead is alive and well in Denver


Call for entries for Day of the Dead celebration

Dia de los Muertos is a popular holiday celebrated in Mexico and the South Western United States to honor the memory of deceased loved ones. It is a Mexica holiday originally celebrated by Mexico's indigenous populations.

Elaborate altars, offerendas, shrines and colorful displays paying tribute to the dearly departed make this celebration one the best loved and most famous events in Mexica culture.

You can join in celebrating this holiday by bringing in your own works of art. School altars and work is free of charge. Prizes for best school altars

Join in the free grand fiesta and blow out events for Dia de los Muertos Celebration on Oct. 30 from 6 to 10 p.m. featuring Aztec Dancers, food, piñatas, free art show and family friendly activities. Candle light processional to follow all events.
