The Rising Curtain Theatre Academy presents....
My Fair Lady
In 1916, George Bernard Shaw debuted
Pygmalion, a play about a Cockney flower girl who succumbs to an phonetics experiment at the hands of the determined and gruff Professor Henry Higgins. In 1956 came the box-office-busting stage adaptation,
My Fair Lady, making a star out of the young Julie Andrews. Just a few years later, the film version united Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn and won eight Oscars. Next, a new movie version is promised, with Kiera Knightley and Daniel Day- Lewis set to star.
With all of the star power, past & future, we are reminded of the popularity of this story, said by many to be "the perfect musical". A new production, at the hands of director Rand Moritzky, opens soon. In rehearsals this summer, the cast and crew are looking forward to bringing the story of Higgins and Eliza to life. The cast includes:
Kelly Oury as Eliza Doolittle
Curt O'Hara as Henry Higgins
Rand Moritzky as Col. Pickering
Jeff Schreiner as Freddy Eynsford-Hill
Kathy DeWitt as Mrs. Higgins and
Eric Franklin as Alfred P. Doolittle
