The 137-member 2008 graduating class of North High School celebrated commencement May 21 at Buell Theater at the Denver Center for Performing Arts.

The ceremony included special music by the North High School choir and a presentation of an honorary diploma to Bret Chance, who attended North High School in 1965, but left his senior year to join the air force. He said he's earning his diploma "about 43 years late," but was happy to finally receive it.

Participants in the commencement also did double duty translating all speeches from English to Spanish. The 2008 class motto is: "We don't settle for good because we are destined to be great. We are the class of 2008."
