Police blotter: Man beaten and robbed

MAN ROBBED, BEATEN
Police investigated the assault and robbery of a 54-year-old Denver man about 11:30p.m. July 9 on the 2700 block of Zuni Street. The victims said as he walked down the street he was confronted by a 53-year-old man he knew. The two argued and the suspect lifted him up by the midsection and a second suspect, identified only as a black man about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds, came up and punched him in the face. The victim was then robbed of $128 before both suspects fled the scene.


CARJACKING INVESTIGATED
Police investigated a carjacking reported about 9:47 p.m. July 9. A 30-year-old Denver woman told police she was talking on her cell phone in her car on the 2300 block of South Humboldt Street when a man walked up and pounded on her window, pulled her from the car and shoved her to the ground. The suspect, described as a white man about 18 to 21 years of age, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, was armed with a handgun. He fled southbound on Humboldt Street in the car, a 1999 Honda Civic, followed by another vehicle, according to the victim. The car was valued at $7,000.

MAN BUSTED FOR ASSAULT
A 20-year-old Denver woman was assaulted by a 22-year-old boyfriend during an argument in a home on the 2500 block of Ogden Street about 6 p.m. July 9. Police said the woman was punched in the face, kicked in the neck, struck with a broom handle and had a jar thrown at her. The report stated when someone knocked on the door, the man allegedly forced the woman into a back bedroom, pinned her against a wall and covered her mouth with his hand to quiet her. He later fled on food.

WOMAN ARREST IN ASSAULT
Police arrested a 33-year-old Denver woman on suspicion of assault July 9. She allegedly confronted on a 37-year-old Denver woman at her home on the 900 block of Decatur Street about 5 p.m. The victim told police the 33-year-old Denver woman came up and yelled at her then pushed open her door after she ran inside and assaulted her by pulling her hair and striking her in the face. The suspect fled, but later returned and was arrested by officers.

BUSINESS BURGLARY PROBED
Police investigated a burglary of Ferguson Enterprises, Inc., 3625 E. 48 th Ave., reported about 11 p.m. July 6. The report stated between 10:40 and 11 p.m., someone broke in by prying a door open and stole items valued at $8,000 from the business.

STORE ROBBED BY DUO
The robbery of a convenience story at 5001 Lowell Blvd., was reported about 11:03 p.m. July 6. A clerk told police two men came into the store and demanded cash and cigarettes. They were given an unknown amount of cash and two packs of cigarettes. The suspects were described as Hispanic, about 18 to 21 years old. One was further described as being obese, wearing a baseball cap and T-shirt, the other man was described as being slim.

MEN ROBBED BY GROUP OF MEN IN PARK
A 22-year-old Thornton man and a 25-year-old Commerce City man were robbed by a group of men about 10:30 p.m. July 6 in Sloan's Lake Park, 4885 W. 17 th Ave. The Thornton man told police he tried to run away but was caught by one of the suspects, who assaulted him and took $20 in cash, a cell phone and a set of keys from his pockets. The Commerce City man told police he gave the remaining suspects $115 in cash, a cell phone, an MP3 player and a set of keys. Two of the suspects were identified only as Hispanic men, 18 to 21 years of age. The loss was estimated at about $779.

WOULD-BE PEACEMAKER THREATENED
Police arrested a 35-year-old Denver man on suspicion of felony menacing after he allegedly threatened a 48-year-old Denver man with a metal rod after he tried to break up a fight between the suspect and another man outside a nightclub on 1700 Logan Street about 9:45 p.m. Police said the 48 year-old man ran away after being threatened, and officers arrested the suspect at the scene.
