Super Saturdays keep things lively at library
Contributed by: SM Merchant on 7/13/2008

The first library opened in the Elyria, Swansea and Globeville community in 1917. Today, the Valdez-Perry Branch Library is the cornerstone of that cultural center. Target and the Valdez-Perry Branch Library partner together to bring top-flight regional performers to the Denver libraries to inspire, educate and entertain.

Target and the Denver Public Library call this partnership Super Saturday! The fun begins every Saturday at the Valdez-Perry Branch, 47th and Vine, at 2 p.m. The shows are FREE! "The Sunny and Cher(i) Show" -- with performers Sunny Marie Hackman and Cheri Seeton -- were spotted this week at the Valdez-Perry branch. No one could say libraries are quiet as the entertainers brought stories alive with magic, music and balloons. The show was interactive and children eagerly participated. Cheri Seeton says, "Kids are always the stars of our show!"

Each audience member took home a balloon sculpture at the conclusion of the show."Will you be back here next week?" was asked again and again. "No, we won't be here, but another show will be." The question now is, "Will you be there?"
