Second resurfacing project for Colfax under way

DENVER - This week, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) started a resurfacing project on Colfax Avenue (U.S. 40) between Yosemite Street and Peoria Street.

The project will rotomill and pave approximately two miles of Colfax Avenue in asphalt and replace curb and gutter, curb ramps and sidewalk.

Throughout the project, motorists can expect single lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. or Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; The majority of the work will take place during the evening hours with approximately one week of daytime work.

Delays are expected and alternate routes are advised. For weekly lane closure information please visit http://www.dot.state.co.us/TravelInfo/CurrentCond/index.cfm and click on "Denver Closures."

CDOT would like to remind motorists to "Slow for the Cone Zone" and obey all construction signs and flaggers.

Asphalt Specialties Co. Inc. is the contractor for this $1.3 million project, which should be complete by the end of September 2009.
