Kitten season is approaching, and for those of you who enjoy love in a fluffy package of purrs, this time of year presents another opportunity to spread the love to these feline friends. Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats has kittens available for adoption, and more to come as kitten season gets into full swing.
At this time of year, it is helpful to remember that love is a lifetime commitment. Kittens grow up to be adult cats who also require and deserve love and care from their human companions. Adult cats often possess kitten playfulness and friendliness, but owning an adult cat also means they've outgrown some of the dangerous or high-maintenance behaviors like chewing electrical cords, climbing pant legs (with or without the pants on), or doing the Kitty-Indy-500 around the bedroom in the middle of the night.
Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats also houses many adult cats who need loving forever homes. Hope is a beautiful one-year-old kitty who absolutely adores attention and caresses. She loves curling up in laps and having her nose, ears, or whiskers rubbed. This sweet girl loves sitting in windows to watch the world go by, but she also enjoys participating in the world when humans are there to give her love and attention. Recently out of kitten hood herself, she loves to play with jingly toys and shoestrings. Her lovely yellow-green eyes liven up when she sees a shoestring or strip of flannel that she can bat with her paws and chase all over the room. Hope is friendly with other cats once she gets to know them, and she's even friendlier with kind and affectionate humans.
Hope was recently the mother of four kittens and the foster-mother to four more. All of the kittens have been adopted, but pretty Hope is still waiting for her forever home. Almost Home Adoptions boasts many sweet and loveable adult cats like Hope who are waiting for their new human families to adopt them and give them as much love as their kittens have received.
Like Hope, many of Almost Home Adoptions' adult cats have come to the shelter with kittens, because they were not spayed. This has become a national issue that has lead to millions of homeless animals who often end up needlessly euthanized to deal with the problem of overpopulation. But there are much more humane solutions to this problem, and Almost Home Adoptions is asking the community for support in these efforts.
February 26, 2008 is Spay Day USA, but there are events throughout the month of February that support efforts to prevent the tragic situation of pet overpopulation. Community members can also support these efforts by sponsoring an Almost Home Adoptions spay or neuter. Please visit http://www.almosthomeadoptions.com/spay_day.htm for more details. Showing support for spay and neuter programs is one more way to show love and support to these furry, purry friends by helping to prevent pet overpopulation.
Almost Home Adoptions is a non-profit, cage-free, volunteer, donation-based, no-kill organization that dedicates time to saving endless amounts of homeless cats and kittens. All of these animals have been tested for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated, and most importantly, spayed/neutered to help control this nation's pet population and prevent the senseless euthanization of animals due to lack of shelter space. In addition to adoptive families, we are also looking for volunteers to help out at the shelter and/or foster the young, sick or injured. Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats is located at 7713 W. 92nd Avenue, Westminster CO 80021. Please call (303) 432-2299 or visit the Center's website www.almosthomeadoptions.com for more information. And of course, donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated.
