Cooper's Hawk out for lunch in North Denver
Contributed by: Chad Kohler on 3/2/2008

I found this Coppers Hawk in my front yard eating this pigeon. He/She must of just caught it, It was in front of my neighbors house the first time than he/she flew one house over and sat there and ate the breast of the pigeon and then flew off.

I did these photographs about 4 feet away. He/She was not afraid but was more interested in the meal. I was using a Canon D60 with a 70-300mm to get these up close and tight shots.

I hope you all enjoy them.

Very nice... well, I mean unless you're a pigeon, then I suppose it's a bit like watching a televised execution. But anyway...I watched a Cooper's Hawk torment the prairie dogs behind the house one afternoon. But I didn't get to watch her actually eat one.

Good shots. Photo No. 4 made me a little anxious, too.
