Swallow Hill's 2007 Shady Grove Picnic Series honors Carol Gossard
Swallow Hill Music Association is proud to present the 2007 Shady Grove Picnic Series in memory of
Carol Gossard. The Shady Grove Picnic Series takes place on Wednesday evenings through August 29 (excluding July 4) at 6:30 p.m. at Four Mile Historic Park, 715 South Forest Street in Denver, and features the best in local music acts.
Fun for the whole family, attendees can lay on the soft grass in the park and enjoy a picnic as they listen to everything from swing jazz to eclectic bluegrass to up-and-coming singer/songwriters. The series is made possible in part through funding gifts from The Butler Family Fund of The Denver Foundation and Erna Butler.
To all who had the privilege of knowing her, Carol Gossard was the symbol of boundless energy, selfless generosity and a deep caring for her community. She and her husband Bill were ardent supporters of the arts (including the Colorado Symphony and Central City Opera), the humanities (including the University of Colorado's Center of Bioethics and the Humanities), health and human service organizations (including the American Red Cross), and civic organizations (including Historic Denver, the Denver Botanic Gardens, and Four Mile Historic Park). In April 2007, Carol received the Heart of Volunteerism Award from Metro Denver Volunteers, and in 2001 she received the Dana Crawford Award from Colorado Preservation Inc. She has been honored by the Girl Scouts Mile High Council as a Woman of Distinction and was recently given the Bonfils-Stanton Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service. Her passing earlier this year leaves us saddened by our loss, but we know that Carol would tell us to move on, smile and, yes, sing.
Contributions in Carol Gossard's memory can be made to the Gossard Forum through the University of Colorado Foundation, 4740 Walnut St., Boulder, CO 80301.
