Jeopardy! auditions to test Denver's mental mettle

I dropped out of basketball in high school to be in Knowledge Bowl (and ruled). In first grade, I stunned my family by knowing that Millard Fillmore was the last Whig party president ever elected. I do crosswords like they're word searches.

But is that enough to get me onto Jeopardy! (The exclamation is an official part of the show's name, apparently)?

I'm about to find out.

This afternoon, I'm joining the hundreds of college students and regular citizens at the University of Denver campus at 2 p.m. to try my hand at getting on the greatest game show ever hosted by a French-Canadian. The event is a recruitment tool for the college episodes of Jeopardy!, but members of the general public are welcome to try out for the traditional episodes.

The event is in the Driscoll Ballroom on campus, 2055 E. Evans Ave., but if you can't make it today, just head north to the University of Colorado on Friday, where the "Brain Bus" will be stopping for another round.

Wish me luck.

Jeopardy just hasn't been the same without Art Fleming. I tried out for a horrific gameshow called "Bullseye" once. Made it to the second phase, but knew I blew it when I kept asking the fake host to repeat himself in the run-through.

Just a quick "good luck" to Eric, and confirmation to others of his early knowledge of useless information (it isn't just a current thing), ha ha.

Yes, Eric, good luck. I had to look up a word to describe this momentous event: Splendiferous. Yeah, take that.

Eric, know the YourHub.com staff is cheering you on! That would be so awesome if I saw you on Jeopardy! I watch that show all the time and I hardly get any of the questions right. I am so bad a trivia.

I wanted to memorize the dictionary and slowly make my way through each encyclopedia when I was younger. Let's just say I'm not as motivated these days. But YOU!!! You are unstoppable!! Go get em!

If you don't get on Jeopardy!, it would be a crime against humanity.

Eric I have always been impressed by your sharp wit and obvious intelligence. Will ask for help on the Sudoku puzzles soon.

Good luck, Eric!

I was on my high school's Knowledge Bowl team! Woo hoo!
