CONCERT HIGHLIGHTS
One Kind Favor Reunion Show
Saturday, October 31 at 8 p.m.
Join us for a special Halloween holiday evening when One Kind Favor, featuring former Shakedown Street members, comes back together to perform the classic Grateful Dead album,
American Beauty, in its entirety. Dress up in costume and dance the night away as we will be making space on the dance floor. Beer will also be served.
Gordon Bok
Friday, November 7 at 8 p.m.
In his early years, Bok worked on a variety of vessels, also learning many tunes, sea songs, stories, legends and ballads from the people with whom he worked. With more than a score of albums, he is a leader in collecting, preserving, creating, and sharing a wide variety of rich and intensely beautiful songs of both land and sea.
Moira Smiley & Voco and Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem
Friday, November 13 at 8 p.m.
Voted #1 a cappella band in the U.S. in 2007, Moira Smiley & Voco is the energy of street singing and the elegance of a string quartet, delivering original, improvisation-built songs steeped in Appalachia and Eastern Europe. Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem's music is "Neo old-timey with cosmopolitan splashes of modern pop and jazz." (
The Boston Globe)
Eliza Gilkyson & Ellis Paul
Saturday, November 14 at 8 p.m.
GRAMMY nominee Eliza Gilkyson is back with her first studio album in three years,
Beautiful World, an evocative "masterpiece" collection of songs. Ellis Paul's charismatic and authentic performance style has influenced a generation of artists away from the artifice of pop and closer towards the realness of folk.
Willis Alan Ramsey presented by Twist & Shout and Swallow Hill Music
Friday, November 20 at 8 p.m.
Some 37 years after the release of his wildly influential self-titled album, Ramsey returns to touring in advance of a long-anticipated follow-up. His songs have been recorded by the likes of Jimmy Buffet, Shawn Colvin and Lyle Lovett, who called Ramsey's self-titled album, "one of the greatest records of all time."
The New York Times writes: "His songs are sweet, emotionally guarded and often musically complex... "
Naughty Pierre's Mambo Burlesque & Magic Extravaganza!
Saturday, November 21 at 8 p.m.
Straight from Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret, Naughty Pierre brings you a sensual celebration of Latin music with Familia Diosa, magic from Professor Phelyx and bewitching burlesque with the Clocktower Clockettes. The show is campy and naughty (there is no nudity), but it is recommended for more mature audiences.
Cliff Eberhardt & Chris Daniels presented by Mile High Business Alliance & Swallow Hill Music
Saturday, November 28 at 8 p.m.
A driving force of the Greenwich Village New Folk movement, the
Seattle Post-Intelligencer declares Cliff Eberhardt "One of the most talented musicians on the solo acoustic circuit... full of well-crafted songs and rich, emotional vocals." Chris Daniels is a musical renaissance man, heading up his band, the Kings, in addition to making records with the likes of Sam Bush, Al Kooper and Hazel Miller. This show is presented with the Mile High Business Alliance, kicking off "Buy Local Week."
Cheryl Wheeler
Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5, at 8 p.m.
Cheryl Wheeler is a gifted songwriter with a beautiful voice, a natural storyteller with a fantastic sense of humor. She's been writing songs since her teen years, remaining a bright light on the folk music scene professionally for almost 20 years, highly respected by her audience, critics and peers. Her songs have also been recorded by Garth Brooks, Bette Midler and Dan Seals.
Peter Mulvey w/Carsie Blanton
Friday, December 11 at 8 p.m.
Peter Mulvey is back with his 12th album to date,
Letters from a Flying Machine. Mulvey's articulate, inquisitive songcraft serves as a guide on the disc, leading the listener on a thoughtfully constructed journey in search of answers to some formidable existential questions and ending with, hopefully, a tiny but shining epiphany.
