Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill, located near the University of Denver at 2045 S University Blvd., will begin its annual holiday coat drive to benefit St. Francis Center, which serves the homeless in Denver. The restaurant will accept donations of gently used coats from Dec. 1- Dec. 31, 2009. The restaurant's hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.
St. Francis Center is a refuge for men and women who are homeless in the metro Denver area, providing services that enable people to meet their basic needs for daily survival and to transition out of homelessness. It is a safe, inviting place to be during the day when other shelters are unavailable. Its staff includes a social worker, nurse, mental health counselor and employment specialist and each of them is available to assist SFC guests with their concerns. St. Francis Center offers hope when it is needed most.
