Description:
Noël nouvelet: St. Martin's Chamber Choir and The Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado
Two of Colorado's premier classical music ensembles, St. Martin's Chamber Choir and The Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, join forces for "Noël nouvelet". The program features the Messe de Menuit pour Noël by the Baroque composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier, featuring vocal soloists, choir, and orchestra. The composer ingeniously set the words of the Mass to popular French Noël tunes, which were as well known in 17th-century France as favorite Christmas carols are today.

More about The Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado:
Now in its fifth season, The Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado (BCOC) is a professional period-instrument ensemble bringing to Colorado audiences the musical riches and spirit of improvisation of the 17th and 18th centuries. Led by harpsichordist-Artistic Director Frank Nowell and violinist-leader Cynthia Miller Freivogel, the orchestra has garnered both critical and audience acclaim for its warm sound and passionate, invigorating performances. BCOC's imaginative programming strikes a balance between rarely performed Baroque treasures and familiar favorites by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and their contemporaries.www.bcocolorado.org
More about St. Martin's Chamber Choir:
Founded in 1994, St. Martin's Chamber Choir is an independent, professional ensemble of 24 singers led by founder and Artistic Director Timothy J. Krueger. Now in its 16th season, the choir presents imaginative concert programs drawn from choral literature which spans the centuries, from Renaissance motets, through 18th century Baroque and Classical works and Romantic-era partsongs, to masterworks of the 20th century and new pieces composed expressly for St. Martin's. The choir has released eleven acclaimed CD recordings which have been featured on nationally syndicated radio programs "Sacred Classics" and "The First Art", and which regularly appear on classical radio play lists across the U.S.
