The Ruby Hill petitions for the ballot proposal to underground the Ruby Hill transmission towers were returned Sunday Aug. 12th at 3 p.m.
Henerietta Conwell,
John Courtney,
Jan Belle, and
Rudy Amiscray had petitions to return. Others gave their petitions to John prior because they could not be there at 3 p.m..There were over 100 signatures on the petitions from just the Ruby Hill area. Petitions were being circulated in Marlee, Overland, Godsman, Athmar, Westwood, and West Washington Park areas. All of the petitions had to be turned in by noon Monday August 13th. Rudy Amiscray, commented that it was difficult to find registered voters. Many wanted to sign the petition. However, they were not registered to vote. Jan Belle called me Monday afternoon and she told me that over
425 signatures were obtained from all the areas.
The petitions were turned over to the McGeady Sisneros Law firm at 450 E. 17th Denver, and they will do whatever attorneys do. A word of thanks to the attorneys for their hard work and support. After the attorneys do their thing, they forward the petitions to the Election Commission by Wednesday, Aug. 15th and then it is in the hands of the Election Commission to verify signatures and do whatever else they do.
Finally, there were many volunteer hours spent obtaining those 425 signatures and that is an indication of the dedication and involment for this hot issue. This is one of the many hurdles that have been put if front of the voters and it appears that the voters have cleared this hurdle.
How many other hurdles will be put in this race before the Ruby Hill View plane ordinance is preserved? I speculate there will be other hurdles before this issue is resolved. Who ever thought that this would get this intense?
